Welcome to the Computer Science Department at The University of Iowa. This handbook contains general information, degree requirements, and departmental rules and regulations for students pursuing (or wishing to pursue) a graduate degree in our department. It is a supplement to the Manual of Rules and Regulations of the Graduate College and the General Catalog, published by The University of Iowa Registrar's Office. These documents as well as other, more general, information about The University of Iowa are available on the Web at, the University's main website.

The information contained herein applies to students matriculating in Fall 2018. Students entering the graduate program prior to Fall 2018 are held to the degree requirements in force at the time of matriculation. For information about those requirements, please consult the previous versions of this handbook, available in the CS Department Office, 14 MacLean Hall (or above, in PDF format).
