Adding & Dropping Classes - Fall 2017



First Week of Classes (August 21-27)

For the first 5 days of classes in the Fall semester, students will be able to drop, add, or change sections or semester hours for courses on myUI (Monday, August 21 to Sunday, August 27). More information is available at registrar.uiowa.edu/changes-registration-myui-open.

Process for Rest of Semester (Beginning August 28)

Students will be able drop courses in MyUI with appropriate authorization. Students must process adds, section changes, and hours changes by submitting a Change of Registration Form with required signatures to the Registrar's Service Center, 17 Calvin Hall. The form can also be found at registrar.uiowa.edu under Registration > Change in Registration > Change in Registration Form.

The drop process:

  1. Students may indicate on MyUI their desire to drop a course. When students do this, they will be told what permissions are required (Advisor, Athletics, ISSS, Dean's) and to contact the appropriate offices.
  2. Students will be informed that it is their responsibility to contact their advisor to request authorization for any drops. After discussing, advisors may authorize drops for students in MAUI. Advisors may authorize even if students haven't initiated the drops on MyUI.
  3. Students will double check MyUI to see if they need any other authorizations. If not, they can complete the drop through MyUI. If other authorizations are needed (Athletics, ISSS, Dean's) it is the student's responsibility to contact those offices. Authorizations may be submitted electronically by those offices through MAUI.
  4. Students will be notified by email and a MyUI message once all authorizations have been granted and they can then complete the drop through MyUI. 

The Change of Registration Form allow you to initiate changes to your registration. You can fill out/print the form and with the necessary signatures, return it to the Registrar's.
