Abstract
This talk will share insights from recent research about quantitative methods and policy approaches for allocating limited resources for flood-risk reduction more efficiently and equitably.

Bio
Adam Pollack is an Assistant Professor in the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of Iowa. His research on flood risk management sits at the intersection of decision analysis and decision support, developing tools and insights for infrastructure design and public policy that are both credible and usable by the people and organizations who need them.

His work spans application areas such as the National Flood Insurance Program, real estate flood-risk disclosures, Federal Emergency Management Agency grant programs, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benefit-cost analysis procedures, flood-risk assessment methods, and the production and use of climate-risk information. This has led to his service on the Massachusetts Technical Advisory Group for their climate-informed inland flood mapping project, and to invitations to share his work with practitioners at federal agencies such as FEMA and NOAA, as well as at state-level emergency management agencies.
