Assistant Professor Lucas Silva has received a 2025 Google Faculty Research Award for his innovative work exploring how families can use technology to support one another’s health and wellbeing. His project focuses on “designing tools like smartwatches and conversational agents” that help parents and children “co-regulate behaviors” and encourage “open discussions around healthy habits.”
By “reimagining how families interact with technology,” the project aims to make wellness “more collaborative, accessible, and engaging.”
"This award is incredibly meaningful because it validates our motivation, helping kids and families with their health tracking, and it provides the critical funding needed to conduct a proper longitudinal study with families over several months."
