Chloe Ladines holding an award certificate

Congratulations to Chloe Ladines, who accepted the Hawkeye Excellence Award for an Academic and Professional Development Program for her leadership role in the 2026 University of Iowa Computing Conference. The annual conference is planned and executed by a collaboration of student organizations (WiCS, ACM, SIGRAPH, and EPX Studio). The weekend event featured notable alumni, faculty, and tech industry leaders, offering symposiums, career training, networking, research expositions, and more.

During this year’s conference, Ladines played a pivotal role in the event’s success, coordinating communications, sponsorships, and offering a wide range project management skills. She was one of many talented and hard-working volunteers making this year's conference a resounding success.

In addition to working as a Student Administrative Assistant for the Computer Science Department for 2 years, Chloe Ladines also served as a UIowa Student Ambassador and works as a Student Web Content Administrator and Editor for CLAS. She is a member and social media manager for WiCS (Women in Computing Science) and also member in ACM (Association for Computing Machinery.) She will be graduating this Spring with BA in Informatics and Art, with minors in both Psychology and Communications. After graduation, she will be working as a User Experience Designer for Quant6, a technology professional services firm in Chicago, Illinois.

Other CS students earning awards at last week’s ceremony:

  • DeAndre Steger, a fourth-year Informatics student with a double major in Psychology, received the 2025-26 Tom Rocklin Meet the Challenge Award. The Iowa Challenge encourages students to embody five attributes:  Excel, Stretch, Engage, Choose, Serve, and the award honors students who best exemplify these attributes during their academic career.
  • Eva Singh (a third-year student in Computer Science and Engineering) and her team of students received a Hawkeye Excellence Award for an Outstanding Program, for their SWEet to Meet You initiative.
