Congratulations to Charles "CJ" Tobler who recently received the Computer Science Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for the 2025-26 academic year.

After graduating in May, CJ is already thriving in his career. "I accepted the opportunity to become a Backend Software Engineer for CPI: OpenFox, located in Chicago. I will be continuing my career there for many years to come while working on my 2 startups as well!"

"The opportunities given to me by the University of Iowa were like no other," said C. J. when receiving the award. "Particularly the Sole-Responsibility Teaching Assistant position. It changed my perception on my career goals while greatly improving my knowledge and interpersonal skills."

As to insights on the UIowa CS faculty, CJ says: "...while Dr. Segre was the best, every professor excelled at their profession and allowed me to leave with more confidence towards what my future holds."
