The Department of Computer Science at Iowa and the Iowa Informatics Initiative (UI3) congratulate Prof. Juan Pablo Hourcade as newly appointed UI3 Associate Director of Informatics Education.

Hourcade is Associate Professor of Computer Science and his research area is Human-Computer Interactions. His group designs, implements, and evaluates the technologies that support creativity, collaboration, and information access for a variety of users, including children and older adults.

Prof Hourcade's new role will include:

• Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Informatics student recruitment and curricula development
• Assisting with the compilation of current informatics/big data offerings at Iowa
• Coordinating discussion on opportunities for new degree/non-degree informatics-related programs
