The Department of Computer Science is proud of its 16 students who were recently honored with membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest, most prestigious academic honor society. The society champions education in the arts and sciences, freedom of thought, and academic excellence.

Additionally, Department Chair Alberto M. Segre gave the key address at the Alpha of Iowa chapter of Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony on April 12th.
Once accepted as a member, Phi Beta Kappa’s are part of the prestigious society for life. The honor is shared with 17 US presidents, 150 Nobel laureates, and a wide number of luminaries in Congress, the judiciary, and national leaders of academia, commerce, and industry.
Our strong presence in Phi Beta Kappa is yet another mark of excellence for our computer science curriculum and our students’ success.
Congratulations, new Phi Beta Kappas!
