Congratulations to Phuong Nguyen, an Informatics Ph.D. student in the  Interdisciplinary Graduate Program, for receiving the Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship. This fellowship program provides an opportunity for Ph.D. students to benefit from a final semester of protected and supported time to focus on completing their scholarly research activities and the writing of their dissertations.

"I am very grateful to receive the Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship. This fellowship will provide me with dedicated time to complete my dissertation on improving the reproducibility of prognostic biomarker discovery in oral cancer and to prepare this work for publication.

“My research examines why gene-based biomarkers often fail to reproduce across studies and develops more reliable approaches that can be validated across independent patient cohorts.

“I am thankful to the Graduate College, my program, and the faculty, committee members, and collaborators who have supported me throughout my doctoral training.”

Phuong Nguyen's advisor is Professor Erliang Zeng, from the College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics.
