Harriet Weeg died on February 13, 2025. She was 97 years old. Mrs. Weeg was the widow of our founding chairperson, Gerard Weeg, who passed away in 1977. The Weeg name is familiar to many alumnae/i for the Gerard P. Weeg Computing Center [A precursor to Information Technology Services (ITS]. To Computer Science Department constituents, the name may invoke the decades-long support that Mrs. Weeg, her family, and fellow benefactors have offered students via the Gerard P. Weeg Scholarship.
Current and past members of our departments were delighted to see Mrs. Weeg and other family members attend events such as our 50th Anniversary celebration in 2015 or Spring 2024's Honorary Doctor of Science Reception for Bill Decker.
