MacLean Hall

MacLean Hall is located on the historic Pentacrest at the center of the main campus, to the immediate southwest of the Old State Capitol. It is a five-floor building where our department currently has offices, classes, colloquia, and seminars. Most of our faculty have offices here. A majority of our research labs are also located in MacLean Hall.

Moving in 2027 to the
Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL)

The University received Board of Regents approval and awarded a construction bid on a new addition to the IATL facility (below). The addition and a portion of the remodeled space will be the future home of the UIowa Department of Computer Science. Work has begun with an expected move-in date by Fall of 2027. The bold, post-modern building was designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, and originally opened in 1992.
