Professor Padmini Srinivasan recently received a SIGIR Test of Time Award (Pre-2002) for her second published paper:

Jeffrey Katzer, Judith Tessier, William Frakes, and Padmini Das-Gupta. “A Study of the Overlap among Document Representations.” Proceedings of the 6th International Conference of the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval (ACM SIGIR). Ed. Jennifer J. Kuehn. Bethesda, Maryland. 106-114, 1983.

At the time, Srinivasan was a doctoral student at Syracuse University, School of Information Studies "under the guidance of the late Professor Jeffrey Katzer [to whom she is] extremely grateful [...] for [her] training and initial exposure to research."

"To identify pre-2002 papers that should receive the award, a ten-person committee was formed and led by Keith van Rijsbergen. This committee used citation counts and other techniques to identify papers that should be considered for the award. Nominations were also solicited from the community. In addition, a sub-committee was formed of people active in the 1980s to identify papers from the 70s and 80s that should be considered for the award."

Those honors were awarded in conjunction with the SIGIR Forum July (Special Edition) 2017, which marks the 40th anniversary of the ACM SIGIR Conference.
