Third Place Success at Swan Hacks 2024: Students Build SpreadSim to Simulate Disease Spread

In November 2024, undergraduate students (3rd year CS and music major) Eric Newton, (3rd year CS) Fin Deevy, (2nd year CS major) Kyle Chi, and (3rd year CS and linguistics major) Nick Theuerkauf participated in Swan Hacks, securing 3rd place with their creation of SpreadSim.

UIowaCS move to IATL in "Facilities upgrades to CLAS research spaces will spur discovery, creative activity"

The growing Department of Computer Science will find a new home in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL) as part of a $25 million project to renovate the west wing and to build an addition that was originally intended but never completed. The design phase is progressing, and construction will begin this summer with completion in summer 2027.
