In Memoriam: Harriet Weeg (1927–2025)

Mrs. Weeg was the widow of our founding chairperson, Gerard Weeg, who passed away in 1977. The Weeg name is familiar to many alumnae/i for the Gerard P. Weeg Computing Center [A precursor to Information Technology Services (ITS)]. To Computer Science Department constituents, the name may invoke the decades-long support that Mrs. Weeg, her family, and fellow benefactors have offered students via the Gerard P. Weeg Scholarship.

CS Major Ishan Dhanani Joins JPEC Refiller Me Startup to Combat Plastic Waste

The group found out that some of the thickest plastic that's only used one time and then thrown away is laundry detergent bottles. Refiller Me has made it their mission to reduce plastic waste by providing refill stations for liquid laundry detergent. The project has been in development just over a year.

Assistant Professor Lakshmi Subramanian, Ph.D., of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, is leading a team of Kean undergraduate researchers who are conducting research to understand how pedestrians behave when crossing streets in the era of autonomous vehicles.
