Zeyuan Ru [Informatics MS | UI Technology Institute - Atmospheric and Environmental Research Lab] was awarded an Outstanding Student Presentation Award (OSPA) by the American Geophysical Union (AGU) at its Fall 2021 meeting for "A smart-and-connected low-cost sensor system for measuring air and soil properties in the Central U.S.: first results."

Forty-seven University of Iowa student-athletes have been named to the 2021-22 Big Ten Winter Academic All-Conference team. The list includes student-athletes from men’s basketball (2), women’s basketball (9), women’s gymnastics (14), women’s swimming and diving (8), and wrestling (14).

Finding a solution to unfairness in AI and ML systems is the aim of a project by LSU Computer Science Associate Professor Mingxuan Sun and University of Iowa Computer Science Associate Professor Tianbao Yang and University of Iowa Associate Professor of Business Analytics Qihang Lin.

A paper co-authored by Geoinformatics PhD student Han Bao and advisor Xun Zhou has received the IEEE ICDM 2021 Best Paper Award. The award has been officially announced on the ICDM'21 website and was presented during the (virtual) conference in December.
